Voice for the Silent Fathers Radio Show

Our show came to life in response to this book.

Voice for the Silent Fathers talk radio hopes to expand beyond the delicate
father-son issues, so implicitly captured in Eddie's  writings.  We will discuss a broad spectrum of societal issues beyond the "no son of mine" father of a gay man experience.

We want to get to the real substance of human conflict which is our inability to accept and appreciate
differences.   We want to open the lines of communication that will offer an opportunity to consider acceptance in a way that extends grace, honor, support and recognition.  Understanding that when we are ungrateful, we are critical, blaming, and we use forms of rejection.  We hope to use Eddies' experience of coming to the acceptance of his son as a way to provide hope for healing which is a more practical response to conflict that allows dignity, respect, and honor which overcomes criticism, blame, bigotry, and ultimately rejection.

Topics will focus on breaking down the communication barriers that have repeatedly destroyed familial relationships.  We will highlight how these broken relationships relate to torn relationships throughout our communities and try to enable the listeners
with the internal power to be the change that is needed.

Another aspect of the show will focus on the fact that the man behind the concept  is unable to host due to the fact that he is incarcerated in a Federal Prison.  There will be topics focusing on the damage caused to the family structure because of the fact that so many of our ‘fathers’ are not present in the home.  We will connect how this contributes to many of the communication issues of today.

Guests will be compelling men/fathers who come from all walks of life who, with the hosts can provide knowledge, insight and direction to empower listeners to begin to open the lines of communication surrounding taboo topics.  Although we may have a few, this won’t be a show full of guest doctors, scientists or therapists.   We believe the listeners of this show need/want to talk with men with similar backgrounds, experiences and thought processes.  We believe the listeners of this show would feel more comfortable talking to a man they might meet at the barber shop than one in an office who has a bunch of letters following his name.  The Voice for the Silent Fathers Talk Radio format will keep it real.  Guests will communicate wth the listeners in hopes of talking them through the struggle of why we are silent about certain subjects.  We hope to empower the listeners to help change the way our families, our communities, our culture communicates with each other about our differences.Voice for the Silent Fathers Talk Radio is set to launch later this fall.
